Lux Beauty Lounge Chemical Exfoliation (Peel) and Facial FAQ

Chemical exfoliation, or peels, remove old skin so that new layers can grow in their place. This controlled removal ranges in strength, from superficial peels that use mild acids to deep peels that penetrate several layers of skin. PCA SKIN Chemical Peels are fundamentally different, remarkably effective, and results-driven. They are an effective and quick way to rejuvenate your skin.

What is a chemical exfoliation (peel)?

Peels can be performed on almost anyone. However, if you are currently sick, have active skin infections or cystic acne, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should postpone your treatment.

Who can get a peel?

How do I know which peel is right for me?

Your PCA SKIN Certified Professional has been trained in the safe and effective application of each of our professional treatment products. We will analyze your skin before recommending treatments that are suited for your skin needs. This education, in conjunction with their professional license, allows them to not only choose a treatment appropriate for your skin type, but also customize the treatment to address your personal skincare needs whether it is acne, rosacea, sun damage, wrinkles, or sagging.

With PCA Skin treatments you can rest assured that you are getting the industry’s most trusted and proven ingredients. PCA Skin has been transforming skin for over 25 years, and their products are only available to licensed skin health professionals who have been trained and certified by PCA Skin themselves. These products are created by a medical doctor (MD).

How much discomfort will I feel?

Most PCA SKIN chemical peels are gentle and create minimal to no burning or stinging sensation in the skin for the majority of patients. Dramatic wrinkling, sun damaged or acne scars may require a deeper peel, which may cause moderate stinging for a few minutes. Deep peels are not necessary for most skin types and conditions.

PCA SKIN's superficial peels produce immediate beautiful results, leaving your skin glowing. Your skin may be pink for up to 24 hours. In 3-5 days you will notice flaking of the skin (no peeling or picking at it, please, or it may cause infection), and your skin may feel dry and tight, but you may moisturize multiple times throughout the day. Please don't do any other sort of exfoliation for at least 10 days after your peel. It is also recommended that you should avoid working out, sweating and swimming for 48 hours after the peel.

What will I look like after the peel?

We recommend coming in every 3-4 weeks for the best results since your natural skin cell turnover follows a 28-day biological calendar.

How often should I get peels?

Can people who are frequently in the sun receive peels?

Yes, but only if they are also using sunscreen protection every day. Sunbathing should be avoided due to increased risk of skin cancer and visible premature aging, but especially prior to treatment, directly following a treatment, and while the skin is peeling. Additionally, if you are receiving peel treatments to reduce the appearance of skin discoloration, it is imperative to use the appropriate PCA SKIN skin-brightening product(s), as well as a broad spectrum SPF product regularly.

Not at all. Having a PCA SKIN chemical peel will remove surface buildup, hydrate the skin and and actually give it a plumper, "thicker" appearance. The use of topical vitamin C, retinoids, and peptide products in a treatment--as well as in a daily care regimen--will help, make skin stronger and more durable.

Will a chemical peel make thin skin even thinner?

PCA SKIN offers many options to hep control rosacea. Our gentle TCA and lactic acid blends are wonderful choices for rosacea. Esthetique Peel, Ultra Peel 1, and Sensie Peel all fight bacteria, reduce inflammation, and help promote healthy skin. Rosacea is best controlled with a combination of medical therapies, in office treatments, daily care products and lifestyle considerations. Heat is an enemy of rosacea so stay cool!

Are there any treatments that are good for rosacea?

Yes, the Smoothing Body Peel Treatment is a blend of three peeling agents as well as ingredients designed to even skin tone, hydrate and reduce impurities. The skin on the body is naturally thicker than that on the face, therefore different solutions are sometimes necessary for optimal results. The Smoothing Body Peel Treatment focuses on the most common skin afflictions or conditions affecting the body.

Are there peels capable of treating the body?
